Circular traceability of non-recoverable waste

The combination of circular design, technology, and inter-company collaboration makes REVALORA an innovative and replicable model of the circular economy.

What have we accomplished?

We created a Digital Product Passport (DPP) for non-recoverable waste, which digitally documents and certifies its entire journey: from the generation of the waste to its revaluation into new durable products.

Technology

Blockchain, Digital Product Passport, EPCIS protocol for logistics events, decentralized identities (DID), verifiable credentials, lifecycle assessment (LCA), and a digital dashboard with sustainability indicators.

The Revalora challenge

Every year, tons of non-recoverable textile and plastic waste end up in landfills due to a lack of traceability and adequate reuse processes. The European and Spanish legal framework (such as the New Circular Economy Action Plan 2020 or the Waste and Contaminated Soil Law of 2022) now requires more rigorous control over the disposal of waste and its environmental impact.

REVALORA addresses this challenge by transforming non-recoverable waste into sustainable design products, while ensuring complete digital traceability that verifies their origin, transformation, and true contribution to the circular economy.

REVALORA (1)

What solution is required?

REVALORA develops a digital product passport that allows the secure and verifiable tracing of the journey of textile and plastic waste, from its origin to its transformation into new sustainable products.

Using blockchain technology, all processes carried out by CM Plastik and CanussaLab are recorded, generating digital credentials that certify the use of recycled materials and their environmental impact.

The solution offers real-time traceability, complies with European regulations, and lays the foundation for a scalable and replicable circular economy model.

Revalora Features

Veracity and immutability of information

REVALORA's digital passport system guarantees that all information related to waste and generated products is authentic and cannot be altered. Thanks to blockchain technology, each piece of information is securely recorded, ensuring transparency throughout the entire transformation and certification process.

Platform for circular ecosystem actors

Waste generating companies, managers, processors, and designers have access to a shared platform where they can record, view, and verify key information about their materials. This tool facilitates collaboration between stakeholders and improves efficiency, traceability, and communication throughout the value chain.

Partners and Next Steps

The REVALORA project is promoted by CanussaLab, Canussa Europe's sustainable innovation laboratory, in collaboration with the technology startup Blue Circular Innovation, an expert in blockchain traceability and the circular economy. CM Plastik, a company specializing in the transformation of plastic waste, is also actively involved.

Thanks to this alliance, a replicable model for managing non-recoverable waste is being created that can be applied by other companies interested in reducing their environmental footprint and recovering their own waste.

The next step is to scale this solution to new industries, engage more waste generators, and consolidate a connected, transparent, and sustainable circular ecosystem.
