The main objective of CircularTech is to create a comprehensive digital platform that revolutionizes the way the textile industry manages its products and waste throughout their entire life cycle.

Seeks to offer full traceability, from raw materials to the end of the product's useful life, guaranteeing an immutable record of data on materials, processes and environmental footprint thanks to a Digital Product Passport based on blockchain.

In addition, the platform incorporates a real-time environmental assessment system, which measures critical indicators such as carbon footprint, water consumption and waste generation, generating valuable information to optimize processes, reduce impacts and comply with regulations such as ESPR, CSRD and PEFCR.

What have we accomplished?

We have developed CircularTech, a platform that integrates blockchain traceability and real-time environmental assessment, validated with synthetic data and ready for piloting in the textile sector.

Technology

We have used blockchain for the Digital Product Passport CircularPassbAwear's real-time environmental scoring system, with API and middleware integration, scalable cloud architecture, and a no-code approach to facilitate adoption by SMEs and large enterprises.

The CircularTech challenge

The textile sector It is one of the most polluting on the planet, responsible for an enormous environmental impact: it consumes around 93 billion m³ of water per year, generates more than 1,000 megatons of CO₂ and causes approximately 20% of global freshwater pollution. In addition, its supply chain is complex and fragmented, making it difficult to traceability of products and waste throughout their life cycle.

The Project CircularTech arises to resolve the lack of integrated solutions in the textile sector that allow tracking the life cycle of products, measuring their performance in real time environmental footprint and efficiently comply with European regulations. Today, traceability and environmental analysis are fragmented into isolated tools, which generates inefficiencies, high costs and little transparency for manufacturers, retailers, recyclers and consumers.

What solution is required?

The solution integrates the Digital Product Passport, which immutably records information on materials, processes and recycling, and the environmental scoring system of bAwear, which monitors key indicators such as CO₂, water consumption and waste generation. Furthermore, its modular architecture and no-code It facilitates adoption by SMEs and large companies, and its scalable design allows the solution to be extended to other sectors such as construction, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing.

With this combination, CircularTech converts value chain data into actionable information, helping manufacturers, retailers and recyclers optimize processes, reduce impacts, comply with regulations and transparently communicate their sustainability credentials to customers and authorities

The CircularTech project is being promoted by Blue Room Innovation (Spain) and bAwear (Netherlands), two companies with extensive experience and solutions already validated in the market.

Blue Room Innovation brings its blockchain-based Digital Product Passport technology and expertise in traceability platforms to sectors such as recycling, construction, and advanced manufacturing.
bAwear contributes with its sustainability assessment system and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools specific to the textile sector, ensuring accurate data aligned with European regulations.

Next steps:
El projecte se centrarà a validar la plataforma en entorns reals de la indústria tèxtil, amb fabricants, detallistes i recicladors, optimitzant-ne les funcionalitats segons el feedback rebut. Posteriorment, s'impulsarà la comercialització al mercat europeu sota un model SaaS escalable, per després expandir-se a altres sectors estratègics (construcció, aeroespacial, manufactura avançada) ia mercats internacionals a Amèrica del Nord i Àsia. A més, es potenciaran les capacitats d'IA i analítica predictiva per maximitzar l'eficiència de recursos i enfortir l'adopció de pràctiques d'economia circular a tota la cadena de valor.
