Portwaste III is an innovative blockchain ecosystem designed for the development of transparent digital supply chains in waste management.

Challenge

The main objective of Portwaste III is to ensure traceability of waste and recycled resources throughout the transformation process, improving transparency and creating a more efficient system for resource management in the circular economy.

Solutions

Zero Knowledge Proof

We will implement Zero knowledge proof algorithms such as zk-SNARKs (Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Arguments of Knowledge) and zk-STARKs (Zero-Knowledge Scalable Transparent Arguments of Knowledge).

These technologies will enable the sharing of essential data for traceability of waste and products without revealing confidential information.

Machine Learning

Neural networks are used to predict waste volumes and optimise transport routes. Decision trees are also used to classify waste and determine the most appropriate treatment method. On the other hand, the algorithms of clustering allow the identification of patterns in waste generation and management, which facilitates segmentation and analysis.

Tool for calculating the environmental footprint of waste MARPOL V

We will incorporate into the Portwaste platform the calculation of different environmental indicators following the Commission's recommendation 2021/2279 on the use of environmental footprint calculation methods with a focus on logistics and transport of waste to port areas.
